Work has started on a new senior living complex on Whittier Boulevard that will include as-needed assisted living and memory care services with resort-style amenities.
Oakmont Senior Living, 13617 Whittier Blvd., will be a two story community with 51 assisted living and 19 memory care apartments with several floor plan options and luxury features such as 10-foot-high ceilings, crown molding and large bathrooms, according to a news release announcing the ground-breaking earlier this month.
“We like to say that we will be the region’s luxury cruise liner of retirement communities, where lifestyle and active living meets as-needed assisted care,” said Executive Director Debbie Infield.
“Our community will offer gourmet dining, concierge services, a plush movie theater and multiple recreation rooms,” she said.
There also will be on-site and off-site recreational activities, a library, exercise classes, social events, games, arts and crafts, a salon and day spa, a flower and vegetable garden, an orchard, walking paths, a pet park and chauffeured transportation.
Care services can include medication management, housekeeping, health monitoring, grooming assistance, dietary guidance, in-home care, a diabetes program, and glucometer readings and daily evaluations, according to the news release.
Oakmont of Whittier will specialize in memory care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The programs are designed to prolong a sense of independence and encourage physical activity, while providing a nurturing, safe environment, said the release.
Oakmont of Whittier is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2015. Reservations are now being accepted.
